A Culinary Intervention with Chef Diego Felix

Since my move to Argentina, my food exploration hasn’t skipped a beat. From an amazing tasting flight of Peruvian ceviches at Osaka to my almost daily dose of empanadas, I’m in foodie heaven. Here in Buenos Aires, an interesting trend of these somewhat illusive eating experiences has emerged. They are referred to as puertas cerradas or “closed door” restaurants. Simply put, a chef will allow people (in the know) to dine in their home. Reservations often need to be made weeks in advance and sometimes only then do you get to know where you are heading for dinner.

I recently had the opportunity to attend a private dinner prepared by Chef Diego Felix of the famous “Casa Felix” here in Buenos Aires. Nearly all of the dishes were cooked on the parilla (grill) on the grounds of a social club with the menu inspired by street foods of South America.

I had my new iPhone 4S along and his friendly team wasn’t shy…
