Alpine Slide at Mount Hood Oregon

While visiting Portland, Meghan and I couldn’t help but point the motorcycle in the direction of Mount Hood. The drive along Route 26 is glorious and the weather that afternoon couldn’t be better for a ride up the steep, windy road which passes through small towns like Sandy, Oregon.

As we got further up the mountain, the huge snow-capped Mount Hood got bigger and bigger. Then a quick glance to the right made the rest of our afternoon. An alpine slide with a ski lift at Ski Bowl – and the place was empty!

Ski Bowl is open year round, with snow sports like skiing and snowboarding in the winter, and over 20 warmer-weather activities – everything from bungee jumping platforms to…well…alpine slides. I thought it was cool that they had 40 miles of intense mountain bike trails that could be accessed via the ski lift.

Meghan and I proceeded to get a feel for the 1/2 mile long alpine slide. Meghan felt it the most, as you can see in this video of our alpine slide afternoon:
